DENVER, Colo. – Goodwill Industries of Denver is thrilled to celebrate its third class of graduating BankWork$ students! 19 future bankers received their certificates endorsed by the Colorado Bankers Association in a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 23 at the Commons on Champa in Downtown Denver.
A hiring event was held immediately following the graduation ceremony giving the graduates an opportunity to apply for open positions at several partnering banks including Academy Bank, Bank of America, Bank of the West, Community Banks of Colorado, Fitzsimons Credit Union, Key Bank, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo.
Just two weeks after graduation, 10 of the 19 graduates have already been offered banking positions! The hiring process within the financial industry typically takes several weeks, so the number of job offers is expected to go up.
As one of the most diverse BankWork$ classes yet, this group included four refugees, spoke eight languages among them and represented seven countries including:
- United States
Throughout the eight week session, students not only mastered the skills they need to excel in banking, but also spent time learning about each other's cultures—realizing they are more alike than they are different.
A condensed summer session will begin on June 19 and span across six weeks at the Goodwill located at 15509 E. Iliff Avenue Aurora, CO 80013. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This FREE intensive course curriculum provides training in the skills needed for jobs as tellers, customer service representatives and personal bankers. BankWork$ also offers job interview practice, job placement assistance, and ongoing coaching and mentoring to help with career advancement.
