DENVER, Colo. – Goodwill Industries of Denver is excited to announce the Bank of the West Foundation is supporting its BankWork$™ program with a $10,000 grant. BankWork$™ is a free, eight-week financial services job training program that serves individuals with barriers to employment. A national program, BankWork$™ began in 2006 and has helped thousands of graduates establish career paths at leading financial institutions across the country.
“Bank of the West is thrilled to collaborate on a program in which individuals can access satisfying, long-term careers,” said Stephanie Tedy, senior Community Affairs regional officer at Bank of the West. “Together with Goodwill Industries of Denver, we’re helping people build strong futures for themselves and supporting continued growth and well-being in our communities.”
Goodwill’s second BankWork$™ class graduated on March 2 and on average has seen a 75% placement rate with graduates accepting job offers at leading banks in the Denver metropolitan area, including Bank of the West, Academy Bank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and U.S. Bank. Goodwill just wrapped up classes for its third BankWork$™ session. The graduation ceremony and hiring event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23 at 8:30 a.m. at the Commons on Champa (1245 Champa Street.)
Beyond its philanthropic support, Bank of the West team members will visit the BankWork$ classroom as volunteer guest lecturers throughout the curriculum and provide industry insight in areas such as basic banking procedures, customer service and identify theft & fraud prevention. The bank will also participate in the hiring event following the graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 23.
