What Kind of Items Can I Donate to Goodwill Denver?
Goodwill takes all kinds of used household items, clothing, and furniture at its retail store donation centers and donation-only centers. (Please note that, due to limited space, donation-only centers do not accept furniture. Please bring your furniture to a retail location.) Need help with your donation? How do my Donated Items help the Denver Community?
Your donations are put up for sale at our retail thrift stores and converted into cash that support our job skills and job development programs. Goodwill Denver is dedicated to programs that benefit the local community by inspiring high school students, helping people get off welfare and back into the workforce and offering work options for the disabled. What happens if I accidentally donate personal documents or items to Goodwill Denver?
Goodwill Industries of Denver has a strict policy about the care and handling of personal items that may inadvertently be donated to one of our stores or donation locations. Employees who process donations diligently inspect all items to ensure someone’s sensitive personal items-- such as driver’s licenses, social security cards or medical records--are not contained within a donation. If one of these items is found, it’s given to the store or donation center manager who keeps it in their locked office until it’s turned over to a member of our Loss Prevention team. Our Loss Prevention professionals attempt to track down the rightful owner of the donation. All donations containing sensitive personal information are held for 30 days in a locked safe, if the item is not claimed after 30 days, it is shredded.
While Goodwill Denver makes every attempt to intercept donations that contain personal information before an item goes out to the sale floor, it is possible that an item could be missed; therefore we encourage our donors to inspect their donations before turning them over to Goodwill.
